Haviana tossed her head, shifting a little uneasily. She had meant it with a good heart. She looked away and trotted across the clearing to the clearing to drink from the stream. She nodded to Incognito as she passed. She stood by the stream, drinking deeply. Her listeners were perked as she heard her daughters hoofbeats up the mountain.
She remained at the stream, knowing she would be another 10 minutes, or more, yet. She scowled, getting annoyed at her daughter. She was making enough noise to wake a dragon. She would have to talk about the dangers of the mountain.

Incognito watched the mare drink, wandering slightly closer to her to remain the protector he was always meant to be and would remain. He remembered the wolves here, still had the scar on his neck though, oddly enough, a large patch of fuzzy, winter fur covered it up. Auds twitched as he heard the sound of another horse, wondered curiously if it was Dark Princess. By how Haviana was acting it seemed to be and he looked in the direction he was. Loud bugle escaped parted, grey labrums, sounding deep but slightly hoarse.
We'll get her down here.
He smiled at Haviana, walking closer to her and nuzzling her, comforting her. He didn't mean to upset her but instinct would not leave him; he would be respected. He doubted he could ever be angry at Haviana again and smiled lovingly at her.

Haviana flicked her whipcord and gave him a slight frosty glare. It was playful though, hardly long enough for him to be upset at. She stepped closer to him as she looked up the hill, annoyed. She called to Princess also. She was gonna cop it this time . Princess trotted out from the tree's, an amused expression on her face. She stopped and recoiled, seeing her father...or who she thought was her father. She stepped closer hesitantly, wondering who this grey stallion was. It was nothing like the majestic creature her dam had described in stories.
Haviana stepped forward, her expression showing she was clearly annoyed.
"Making enough noise to make the dead?"
She said, her tone annoyed. She started forward, giving the filly a nip on the shoulder. She saw her almost flinch away, bt the bite did nothing in forms of marking or showing.
"Meet your daughter"
Haviana said, clearly annoyed at Princess. She had taught her to be silent and leave no trace. She had taught her for nearly a year now, since she was only a young filly. [/blockquote]

The stud was far past getting or remaining mad at Haviana, and he visibly relaxed with her beside him. Head lifted slightly as the mare called for their daughter and he looked around, hearing her approach and soon spotting her. She was just as beautiful as Haviana, strong and going to be tall like him. He turned to face her, watched her recoil but showed no notice of it. At Haviana's introduction he nodded to her and then trotted to his daughter, nipping her affectionately on her nose but doing nothing more.
Hello Dark Princess, my daughter.

One pale ear flickered, and brown eyes were illuminated in the light. He'd always been fascinated by the quirks of nature... echoes included. Perhaps it was that instilled liking for mysterious, spine-shivering things in the night from her shadow-kissed, darkness-crafted herd. He had nothing else to interest him now. And with his bloodlines it was no wonder that he took an interest in the more atrocious and morbid things.
The mountain wasn’t particularly perilous, to one who was raised upon it, but it was still raised a sheen of sweat upon his coat as he climbed it. Donovan sighed, hoofs echoing on the pale gray rock.He snorted lightly as the ever present breeze at this altitude played in soft gusts, twisting delicately through his mane, shadowing one eyes. He shook his head, and the hair moved from its position, affording him full vision again. It was one thing he disliked, not having one-hundred percent of his vision. He didn't see how it appealed to some horses, to have their forelock covering their eyes.
Donovan stilled his hoofs now, and the echos fell away. The previous disruption was not of natures, but rather one of her creations. It was a call of beckoning, one he believed he would never hear again. His sire's.
Tentatively, he stepped in the direction of the call. Echos rang out once again, but with a sad reluctance, he turned away from them, and flicked both auds toward the voices. Taking the images in his mind and matching them to the voices, making a game of it all. Incognito was there. Haviana and his half-sister, Princess as well. In the recess of his mind, he realized that these pictures were wrong, over months old, long due expiration.
"Hello...father." His voice was raspy, but he doubted it was rooted in nonuse. Donovan thought now, it was how his voice was. Ghostly now though, obviously influenced by his interests. He couldn't say he wasn't slightly surprised. He knew his sire would be different, but now he did indeed look like another stallion. Much older, so much older.

Haviana turned in interest, her listeners flickering as her actue hearing picked up another sound. more hoofbeats. Her saughter had got her in a grumpy mood. The playful mare was long gone as she muttered.
"Great. The more the merrier"
She stepped closer to Incognito, wondering what would happen. While he had known Princess was coming, he didn't know Donovan was. Haviana pressed her bodice alongside his, just, to guide him. Let him know she was there.
Princess smiled a little shyly. She remembered her manners quickly, a little smug for remembering as she dipped her skull to her father, showing him respect. He nipped her in affection. She felt like poking her tongue out at her mother. She had been called...rebellious.
She craned her neck around, looking behind Incognito. She had gently nuzzled him on the neck and she hesitated, her listeners picking up the sound a heartbeat later the her dam.

Skull turned slowly upon arched crest, scenting another brute that he had known was there all along. It was distant but familiar, eyes searching frantically, thinking his mind to be playing tricks on him or his eyes to be depriving him of seeing something that was right before him. Incognito jumped slightly as Haviana came to his side and he nuzzled her with sincere affection. He was aware of that presence once more, much closer and he could not help but look.
Donovan, his first born son from Viali, came into view. Immediately he wondered where Viali was and became concerned, but saved that question for another time. He looked over his son, took a few steps towards him but remained near to Haviana to keep her comfort. He nodded to his son, smiling comfortingly. He looked back at Dark Princess, amazed at how suddenly everything had got back together. It was a relief and his expression spoke of never wanting to give it up again.
He did not nip his son like had had Princess - just nodded and then backed towards Haviana and his daughter again. He brushed his own pelt against her, looked at Donovan with interest.
I see you have taken over the land, Donovan.
Naturally, the first thing brought up. Incognito spoke nothing more, he spoke as if it were an observation and just waited to see what Donovan had to say.[/justify[

Donovan was a rather passive creature, it would seem for a time, if you didn't know him well. It would seem like nothing affected him, nothing gave him cause to startle. This is not quite true. He is content, at times, to let some events flow over him. If you would truly know him well, though, it would become clear that he honestly didn't care. It was callous of him, and in later years, he might regret this, but that time was not now. There were certain events, certain words, that caused some sort of lower-level interest in him. Incognito had spoken them.
"Naturally...The land needed to be protected." Donovan's voice was a ghastly whisper, riding smoothly on the trickling wind. There was more he could have said, of course, but the colt was no fan of talking. His sire was a intelligent stallion, he would figure out that Donovan had only taken over to defend the land from predators and other stallions. The pale colt had planned to give it back, and if Inco had failed to return, he would keep his birthplace for himself.

Haviana bit back a retort to Donovan's repl. She would have protected it with her life. She had been loyal, while the other mares had left. She looked at Donovan through kind orbs almost. She was a bit confused. If it came to a fight, she wondered who would win. Incognito was weak, but more experienced. Donovan was still a colt and had not reached his prime.
Haviana looked back at Princess. She was a little bewildered by what was happening. Haviana swiveled back and gently nuzzled Incognito. She was worried. She looked at Donovan, his voice only more of a whisper. It was almost eerie.

He remained impenetrable, hardly touched by the off-hand manner which his sound spoke. Briefly one may have thought that he was insulted or frustrated as his expression became a blur of hatred, anger, exasperation, confusion. Many others, but it passed quickly and he looked blankly at his son. The encouragement of of Haviana was recieved, finding that without Boodica to influence him, he was falling more in love with Haviana. She was the only mare that had remained here it seem - all the rest had left. Attention returned to Donovan after nuzzling the mare again, they both seeming to switch touches every few seconds as if having to get the last 'word' in.
Well then, you won't mind if I take the land back then.
As previously thought, Donovan was not quite old enough to really lead. He had a plan for the brute though and his lips parted, moving to hint to saying more as he thought.
However, my age deprives me of the strength I had, and you still require a stallions influence. I request that you lead beside me, let me teach you, and once I pass you may lead next to my heir, teach him after I am gone, be there for each other. Pause, breath taken, breathing somewhat labored. He had not spoken this much in a while, not had so much excitement. He looked at Haviana, seeking a reaction to the word 'heir' and then looking at Donovan. It is intended as a reward for your loyalty, Donovan. You may decline though, and stick around, or go lead your own herd.

Donovan nodded but felt inclined to speak as well, knowing it would be...disrespectful to not. " It was planned..as such." It was not a snap of the moment decision he had made, no his dam had well advised against those type of decisions. They would always led to suffering in the end. Donovan, being still so very young, had not made all to many of these decisions and they had not had dire consequences. He had not the experience.
A pale hued ear flicked in the direction of Incognito, taking in everything the elder stallion was staying. And then, suddenly, he was confronted with a decision. A brief flash or surprise came across his face, looking quite out of place. Thoughts running in his mind, he tried to decide wither to make his choice now, or request time to decide. No, he could not request any extra time, that would be to...eerie he knew. So he would make the decision now. "I..thank you for the..offer, and I..accept." The choice to lead his own herd was indeed tempting, but he would prefer not to leave the place where all his memories lay.

Haviana stood, watching like a silent shadow. Incognitos seemed to be telling Donovan off, talking in an offhand manner about re-claiming the land.Haviana felt funny. She felt all hot and flushed, like it was warm or Summer. She walked away slowly, taking another long drink before wandering back
As she came back, she stood closer to Inco, her skull down to the ground as she breathed deeply. She heard about the trade, her listeners flicking back. She heard Incognitos pause and she gently nuzzled him, raising her skull to look at him.
At his next sentence she froze, not sure what to think. She looked away, wondering if he had sent her the message she thought....Surely not? Boodica was to bear the heir, not her. She looked at Donovan, hearing him accept.
She smiled, glad Incognito was once again her leader. She looked at Incognito questionably before indicating the stream. She walked over, indicating for him to follow. She knew he would follow, and she hoped he would realize she wanted to talk about the whole 'heir' thing.

It was no surprise that Donovan needed to think and Incognito gave his son plenty of time. It was a reasonable offer, but not something that most males wanted. Most wanted their own herd, their own rules, their own mares. Sharing was not typical of stallions but he trusted his son - even if he did barely know him. Auds flicked back as Haviana moved away from him, listening to her drink although he returned his attention to Donovan as he spoke. Nod, skull incling generously as thank you to protecting of the land and accepting. He then looked at Haviana as she came back and touched his side, looking back at Donovan briefly.
Excuse me, my son. Feel free to talk with Dark Princess, or go on with... whatever you were doing before.
Smiling, Incognito turned to follow Haviana at a steady pace. He came to her side, drank hungrily at the stream but with his brown eye and white eye looking up at her, waiting.

Haviana paused as she saw Donovan wander off into the tree's. He was a very quiet young horse. She turned back to Incognito. It was a little eerie, one blind eye looking at her. She pushed the fact off, knowing she would get used ot it.
She looked at him questionably. She let him finish drinking, her orbs looking at his with constant worry. Her voice was hesitant as she began.
"What was all that about? The hole 'heir' thing?"
She asked, her voice a little confused and a bit...upset? It was hard, she had covered her emotions for a long time while he was gone.
