I'm alone, again.
{{Selene}}
She was alone, she had no family, she did not want to go back to her father's land. She wanted a foal of her own, and she would not get one from him. She stood, head low as she thought. Waiting, for something she did not know, maybe a miracle. That Whisper would come back to her. That he would take her to his land again, and keep her safe. But no, that would never happen, and she knew it.
She shook her mane and raised her head slowly, looking around. Her tail moved as she took a step forward, then another until she was into a trot. Towards the small river by the Plateau. Her legs carried her far, having a lot of energy stored in her small body.
Hooves sunk into the mud as she dipped her muzzle in, barely aware of her surroundings. She was still in the Plateau, but it was far from where she had stood before. She shook her coat and sighed, raising her head to look behind her. The mare turned and walked slowly back up the small hill, that lead to the Plateau's top. Where she stood, looking over it.

Define your meaning of war To me it's what we do when we're bored I feel the heat comin off of the blacktop And it makes me want it more Because I'm hyped up, outta control If it's a fight I'm ready to go I wouldn't put my money on the other guy If you know what I know that I know
It's been a long time coming And the tables' turned around Cause one of us is goin' One of us is goin' down I'm not runnin', it's a little different now Cause one of us is goin' ONE OF US IS GOIN' DOWN!!!
My ashen dial lifted suddenly as I spotted the mare upon my perch within the plateau. She was heading straight towards me as if she didn't notice that I was here, but then again I was hard to see with the shadows that caressed me. Aerial sensors pircked forward as I watched her, silently wondering what she was doing here. I assumed she was claimed or else she would probably be at Delepio Meadows, hoping a lead stallion would find her. I would be there right now if there were any mares there. It wasn't even a matter of stallions already courting the mares, the meadow was just barren. I think that it was because of the weather - the constant raining causing flooding, sweeping the mares off their feet instead of the black knight that they were searching for. I scoffed, wondering who would want a black knight in shining armor to save them; grey tyrants such as myself were a much better choice.
Lips jerked slightly, grinning at the thought though it laborlously disappeared as the mare came upon me. She was looking elsewhere though and so I moved towards her. Caudal appendage cracked against my hindquarters, snorting loudly at her as I came to stand beside her. Valves flared as I scented the air around her, barely smelling a stud although I could not ignore that she had yet to be bred. I ignored this for the moment, standing idely. Her expression seemed plagued with both pain and aggrivation, but I really didn't care how she was feeling. Hopefully whatever caused her such emotions would work in my favor as I spoke to her.
What brings you here, dear mare?
Demanding and sadistic, my tone was far from welcoming although my words didn't exactly speak of wanting to harm her. Dial was tilted so that I could look at her, azure and russet visionaries obvious against my cadaverous hued facade as I waited impatiently for her response.

Company?
{{Selene}}
Snort escaped her muzzle as she looked at a passing bird, brining her eyes to look behind her. A stallion was approaching, Selene sighed. Now was not the time. She heard him snort, and looked back to the Plateau, then he was beside her. She looked at him for a moment and shook her mane. She hoped a mare would come, a sweet mare she could talk to. But nope, of course, a stallion had to come and ruin... well her life is already ruined, but even further.
She listened to him speek, still not looking at him. When he finished, she paused for a moment, she was bitter, but the sweet mare was still inside of her. Though she had become scared and shy like when she was a filly. He was not welcoming, but harsh and demanding. She didn't want to talk to an arrogant stallion, but he was better than nothing.
"Its none of your business sir," She muttered in response. Tail lashing the sides of her legs as she spoke. She looked at him, then to the ground, by her hooves. She glanced up, then behind her. Before taking a step away from the stallion who was standing at her side. "I.. don't know." She said quietly. Selene, much to her disadvantage, was one to talk to someone she barely knew, about all of her problems. This never did help her out, but Selene could not hold things in. She blinked slowly and took another step. Then stopped, a few feet away and stood without moving again, looking into the distance, with a far away look, back to the stallion.

I took very little notice of the mares dislike towards my presence. It didn't matter if she wanted me to be here because the fact remained that I was here, and this mare alone could not provoke or motivate me to leave. Sadistic gaze searched the mares facial features for any clue or sign, noting that she refused to look at me and I snorted in an amused fashion. Auds twitched at her words but it did no deter me from the mare, watching as she retreated a few steps from me which only caused me to move a few steps closer. I met her gaze intentionally as she finally looked up before explaining her cluelessness of her predicament, and I offered her a skeptical look.
You do not know why you are here, yet it is none of my business? Make you sounds quite ignorant, don't you think?
Appendages brought me ever closer as if I she were my prey, hardly losing a beat with my malicious yet offhand remark as I came to stand beside her once more.

I wish I wasn't here, 'cause he's just making it worse,
{{Selene}}
She stood watching him, deep in thought once again as he took a few steps to close the gap she had just brought between them. Glancing away for a moment before snorting and flicking her tail. She shifted her weight and looked down for a moment, listening to what he had to criticize about. She rolled her eyes looking back and turned to face him. "Why do you even care why I am here?" She asked, looking him straight in the eyes for the first time. Her ears were a little flat, but not very noticable. She didn't usually get mad.. she stayed clam. "You are not making my life any better sir. I'm sure you have something better to do." She added. She did not know why she still called him 'sir', she had no reason to. He was just another brute to let you down in the long run. Selene, though, knew her manners well from her father and their herd. And now, she just 'had' to be respectful. She shook her head, looking blankly into the distance.
She snorted again, twinsets came back to normal. Though she stood looking into the distance, a hurtful look on her face, though she wished it would not show. She was thinking about Whisper again... and she could not stop the pictures coming back into her mind of him, and when he was killed.

I looked placidly at her, ignoring the aggressive characteristics of her stature as she posed little threat to me. Gaze continued to bore into her feminine chassis as my breathing idled to a more moderate pace. Auds quivered at her inquiry and I chuckled though never closed my eyes as she finally caught my two-toned eyes. Appendages moved once more as I slowly began to cricle her, ashen caudal appendage brushing against hindquarters as I continued to laugh at her. I caught her pained expression once more and stopped in front of her, amusement still upon my facade as I addressed her once more.
You give me too much credit, dear mare. Just because I ask why you are here doesn't mean I care, I was just starting conversation.
I spoke in a matter-of-fact way, smiling gently at her with a very wicked appearance to my lips as I continued to walk around her once more.
But if you told me why your life is so hard, I spoke, mocking her since she claimed I was just making things even more difficult for her. She was alive, wasn't she? She didn't seem sick or hurt other than maybe of the heart and mind, so I didn't see the problem. I could possibly improve it, unless I'll just make your life that much more difficult.

&& he's just hurting me further, {{Selene}}Sighing and shaking her bay head slowly, expression now showing little hurt and more a cold expression. She whipped her tail again, looking at the sky for a moment, few clouds, making the sun shine bright and hot down on the earth. She shook her mane as he began to circle once again feeling the urge to kick at him, though she stayed still. She listened to his words, a slight breeze picking up as she stood, carrying her scent around the area. She turned to face him, tilting her head ever so slightly as she thought. "What have I got to lose?" She said in a whisper, that only a horse who was listening closely would hear. "When I was a foal, I didn't have a good life, I ran away, to find a stallion named Surprise. He became my father, and his herd grew. A colt wandered into his land.. I ended up fostering him... he, decided to leave, when he was old enough. And I had to choose between my father and Whisper." She said slowly. "I chose Whisper.. he sub herded, yet soon he died. I left again... and now I am here." Theres nothing that can improve my life Stud. She wanted to spit out.
She looked at him for a moment, waiting to see if he would answer. "Is that what you want to hear?" She said anyways.

Yes, I showed very little true interest in the mare but I remained attentive to her - never missing a word, a breathe or even minor change in her stature. I saw her discomfort and her pain, possibly even aggressive desires although it seemed hard for her to hide any of this. I sensed that she eventually gave in to me, catching her small whisper and making it out enough to realize she was going to say something big. So I stopped, just at her left side where I could touch her with my nose if I desired - my head positioned at her shoulders. Aerial sensors pricked forward as the young mare spoke, gaze blank while facade held its more popular amused and ominous expression.
I had listened to her words carefully, the masculine instincts I inherited due to my gender allowing me to subdue the sadistic personality that most often manifested within me. Her life wasn't really bad but it was complicated. Horses needed other horses, or else the most evil brutes wouldn't seek out anybody. This mare seemed sensitive as well, but it did not stop me from wondering if she would want to join my herd. I very easily doubted it because she was seemed less than fond of me, but I could really care less.
Appendages shifted as I began walking around her once more, attentive brought back by her irritating inquiry. Once again you jump to conclusions - I never stated what I wanted to hear specifically. Sounds like you've hit a few bumps in your life, nothing I can change. Once again I spoke in the most sophisticated manner as irons dug into the ground around her - my prints blurred after stepping in the same place so often. If you're wanting me to fix your old herd or bring back your stallion, I cannot. If you seek a herd and good protector, I can give you that, though only after you give me a few things. With that I stopped near her back end on the right side, dial extended upon muscular curvature to nip near her tassle; the nearest thing to a clue I could give. Both a foal and loyalty were my requirements, otherwise none need be affectionate or caring towards me. Dial turned once it had been withdrawn so that I may look upon her, waiting for her reply.

He wants something from me... I don't know what to choose,
{{Selene}}
Finishing, she looked at him again, stud began to circle. This annoyed her, not knowing what he wanted, or why he was here. She didn't show it, luckily. Bay twinsets flicked forward at the sound of his voice again, waiting to hear what he had to offer. Her blue eyes blank as she listened, face stone cold. The wind picked up, and she cursed under her breath. The stallion, was not too bad afterall. He was fine, not cruel.
Small head lower slightly, nipping at her leg as a fly bothered her. She lifted her head back up, forelock falling over her eye. Tossing her head she snorted softly at his first remark. Looking behind her at him as he spoke again. She looked at him, closing her eyes for a second to think. Then nodded. "How many mares do you have in your herd?" She asked, now taking the chance to question him. "I am not going with a bloodline crazed stallion," Femme added, looking at him with a skeptical look.
She debated going with him, she wanted to go with a nice stallion, one that would treat her right. But this was not a fairy tale. She wanted to look and see what other stallions were out there, before she made her desicion.

Her inquiry was well accepted and I nodded understanginly to her, though hopefully she understood that... well, let me not judge until I actually told her.
My appendages brought me around to her once more so that we could face each other. Gaze was kept planted upon her skull as if it may somehow disappear and I'd have to catch it. Caudal appendage was erect and now remained still, the breeze gone and the pests as of yet having to land on me. Her statement about a 'bloodcrazed' stallion amused me, though it seemed that much of what the mare did and said brought me some sort of laughter; whether mocking or not.
Not so much, dear mare. I require my mares carry foals and only my foals - naturally. I am always willing to wait until the mare is ready, as I'm more interested in ensuring offspring not just seeking the pleasure. I paused, assuming I gave her the information she sought though I did not think I told her what she wanted to hear - all well. Then of course there is the regular b.s. of trust, loyalty etc. but I'm sure, being a previous herd mare, you are aware of that... and I only have one mare at this point. If I could have winked at her I would have, but I could not and so I only smiled. I would get more mares, but Opal was my only one and possibly this unknown mare if she agreed.

What to choose? I'm going home,
{{Selene}}
She looked at the sky for a couple minutes, it was becoming darker, she shivered, the flies were almost all gone. Blue eyes looked at the stallion, tossing her black mane as Selene waited. Her eyes drifted into the background as she snorted softly. Coming back to focus she looked back to him as he began to speak. He had one mare, thats it. She would have thought he had more. Turned off the thought and a small smile was alomost visible as she looked away. Bay ears flicking forward and back, thinking.
She sighed, and nodded. "I'll come with you," She said. "But I need a name." Looking at him with a small smile on her face for the first time, she flicked her long, black tail. She snorted and glanced away, then to him again. "I'm Selene." Slene, being Selene hoped that the one mare he had would be a friend to her. She hated being in a herd all alone.
Now, was this one mare the lead? He didn't know, but it didn't matter because Selene didn't want to be lead, and this was no problem at all. She liked being told what to do, it had been that way all her life really, and she was used to it. She flicked her tail in thinking and smaller legs brought her beside the stallion as she waited.

I could tell that the mare was contemplating my words as well as my request, and so I stood silently before her, snorting escaping passageways as a sign of my impatience. Vapor rose from nigrescent valves with every exhale, winter having unknowingly slipped its grip over the mare and I. Even though I had arrived earlier in the noon, it was now growing darker as evening turned to dusk. This brought a relief from the pests but the cool, night air nipped at my hide. It was not too cold but I had yet to get used to it - previously accustomed to the more moderate temperatures of the fall.
Her sigh brought me back, barely seeing the inclination of her skull as a sign of her agreement. Her words were just useless bantering in my opinion but I nodded and smiled none the less, taking in her name with interest. Ligaments moved gracefully beneath me as I noticed the mare was now at my side. Muscular curvature became elognated so that my incisors may reach the mares rump - biting her flesh without ill intention to announce my claim over her. Nape returned to it's regal position, cranium held high as I looked at the mare with inquiry.
We may either go to the breeding grounds from here, or to the herd.
I was demanding with my words, obviously telling the mare that if she was ready - which by her scent I percieved her to be - then a foal would be her initiation into the herd, and my final acceptance as well.

I've got what I've been looking for.
{{Selene}}
She waited after she had spoken. Looking at him, a little impatient, though not as much as he seemed to be. She rolled her eyes at the note and flicked her tail. A small smile played on her muzzle, as she glanced around for a few moments. She shivered, it had become very cold, now winter. If she wanted a foal, which she did, they would have to hurry.
She snorted, annoyed, as he nipped her, and listened to his words. Her scent still filling the cold air around them. Nodding her head she looked at him. "The breeding grounds." She said simply. Turning herself, she began to trot towards the breeding grounds with a smile on her muzzle. She was happy, to have found a herd. And to finally get her foal, snort escaped her in joy. Though she stopped, meters away from him, waiting for a moment, before stepping into the boarder of the grounds.
