Surprise looked up and around once more as his small herd surrounded him in The Large Clearing. His herd had dwindled many in the drought and his dark coffee colored skull swung in despair. Selene and Julia had both left him and Tinkerbell and Euphoria had not been seen since the beginning of the drought. Were there sunken bodices in a safe place, together? Or were they both dead, two small skeletons lying out in the forest somewhere. Surprise wouldn't and couldn't claim no more. His herd would dwindle slowly, Faynan leaving to sub-herd or create a new herd and giving Rouge to him. Surprise wanted to give Rouge to Faynan, because he knew Faynan would care for her. The eventually Deziya would leave. Surprise could breed Deziya if he wanted, but what would the point be? And then lastly his best friend Vital would leave. She would be disgusted by her friends atrocious behaviour, probably leaving his to die off his depression and misery
Haunted orbs looked at the mares and young colt as he swung his head slowly in the burning hot wind. The grass had withered and dried, leaving tasteless stems of disgusting dead grass. The lake had dwindled to a pond, providing clean water at least. But the water was warm and not the least at all refreshing. Most horses pelts were thin, some having some patched of bare skin. Mane hung in strand as the stallions dark lush mane had turned coal coloured and greasy. His dark legs were covered in dust, the result of the drought. Once Again. Always killing. The rest of the herd had fared the same. His beloved Deziya had her ribs showing, at least her's was not as bad as the rest. Everyone had their rib-cage showing, but Surprise had the worst. He had given what he could to the herd, only eating when he felt truly starved and about to faint. He then only ate a couple mouthfuls, the tasteless grass no even filling him up
The stallion raised his dusty skull slowly as his paper-thins flared. He lifted it like a great burden, his strength weak from the lack of food. Surely not. It could now be. The scent of rain. By now all the horses had raised there head towards the mountains. Dark clouds pooled and billowed as the coming storm grew closer. The scent of the rain was strong as the hot gusts of wind turned to cold bursts of warm and hot air. Surprise gave a throaty call, no horse had talked in a long time. The occasional sentence, but no more. Energy was wasted on talking. His voice was hoarse (ooc: lol) and barley audible as he called for the horses to gather closer. The storm was fast approaching. It didn't LOOK like a storm. Well it did, but not as severe as first thought. Just rain...heavy rain though. No thunder fo lightning... that at least was a relief.

Vital had not endured as much misfortune in comparison to the other equines. Her naturally muscular stature prevented her from looking as sickly as the other equines, but now her bone structure was awkwardly viewable beneath her multi-hued pelt and most area's were far too refined for her bulky cadaver. She was as knowledgeable of her muscular heritage as ever other horse, and thus had done just as Surprise had and tried her best not to eat - especially for the foals sake. Mothers were also horses she sacrificed her desires for, and those of rank. That was just how Vital was even though she didn't know any of the herd members and none had made any attempt to acknowledge her. She could blame it on the poor timing of being claimed, since it had been just prior to the beginning of the drought. Still, she felt her efforts of at least trying to help provide for the herd and take some responsabilitiy - regardless of her low rank in the herd - was a useless and hardly seen effort by everyone else.
Snort escaped the young fatale, appendages moved her now much lighter frame into the direction of her lord. Her skin sagged a little from having lost all of her fat and some of her muscle, nothing present to keep her feminine shape enabling her a rugged appearance. Auds pricked forward as he called wearily to everyone, gaze briefly averted to the mountain tops and at the gathering clouds. Aerial sensors suddenly pinned as an icy droplet shot like a bullet onto her body. It landed on an ebon splotch, making the area glisten in comparison to the rest of her dusted body. Gradually the droplets increased to a light shower, now doubt the very edge of the storm that would hopefully embrace them.
She took a position just to the left of Chocolate Surprise, dial inclining to both of the Alphas and their heir before looking around, very unexpectant of anyone saying anything to her. Dial was held casually on her extended nape, very little enthusiasm apparent upon her facade as she lazilly swished her tassel back and forth. Curiosly the fatale wondered how was left though really didn't know who was here to begin with. Surprise had a few mares in the beginning but some seemed to have either left or disappeared entirely. Had death claimed some of them? How had the foals survived? Vital wondered how much longer Surprise would last if he didn't eat something more than what he had - Vital had been very much in-tune to what the brute did and didn't do. Dial turned from side to side as if she could offer the brute, or his mate, or their son some sort of offering, some support. There was no lush patch of grass, discarded apple or even edible leaves. The land was extremely bare, most of the vegetation growing near the lake - which was not very comforting due to its warmth. Thus hoping that none of the trio had noticed her or anything she just attempted or before attempt, regardless of her earlier aggrivation at her ignorated attempts, Vital returned to simple watching and waiting.
ooc| - feels insulted her char was forgotten -

Physique held aloft with much effort as the alabaster dove stood beside her beloved, dome held close to the ground. Light hued orbs dull from the lack of energy that coursed through her being. Pushing her zenith into the air as the new mare came to rest at Surprise’s left. Nickering softly a weak welcome to Vital, suddenly feeling completely guilty for not welcoming the young fatal into the land herself but the effort that Deziya had put into keeping her now 3 year old son safe and healthy had almost taken her life. Quickly looking over at the handsome twice painted stallion who was as handsome now as he had been a year ago…though now he was a mighty stallion and ready to start on his own. Where he would go she could only guess but she was sure that he would thrive. Watching with sad eyes as her first and seemingly only son nuzzled her gently before picking up his long elegant limbs and let them carry him out of her father’s land for the last time.
The cloud colored dame started at the loud rumble of the on coming thunderstorm. The scent of rain washed in on the cool breeze, suddenly making her shake. Dust ventured from her once silky pelt, the icy droplets began to rain down on the trio of equines. Suddenly the drought had come to an end and it would seem that all was going to finally be saved. Turning her skull slowly to let her velvety muzzle rest against her beloved surprise’s nape. “Do not give in my love, all will be alright.” Her voice soft and her words only for him to hear.
